Nice to meet you!

“My name is Sydney, owner of Avis Bridal.

When I was a young girl I always snuck into my grandma Avis’ sewing box and taught myself to sew using the supplies I found inside (and on a just few occasions cutting up and using my moms clothes for material, sorry mom!) 

It wasn’t until I was a little older that I realized my passion for wedding dresses. I was awestruck seeing my cousins new wife in her dress at their wedding. As the years went by I found myself working at bridal stores and perfecting my hobby of sewing at home. 

One day, a friend-of-a-friend asked me to alter her bridesmaids dress last minute, with the options for alterations being so limited locally I felt compelled to help. And then all of a sudden my two passions effortlessly merged. 

Through dressmaking and alterations, a business was born. I am so delighted to honor my late grandmother by naming this store after her, because even though she wasn’t able to guide & teach me here on earth, I still believe she taught me everything I know.

It’s been such a joy to put a purpose to my passions.”
